CAC delivers school supplies

The Central Sugar Consortium (CAC) is pleased to announce that from September 14 onwards, it has successfully been able to deliver school supplies to hundreds of children living in vulnerable conditions of the Las Salinas communities of Villa Central, Santa María and Santa Bárbara of the Tamayo municipality, as well as Bombita and Los Saldillos in the Barahona province.  The objective is to help the children begin their 2021-2022 school year.

"With these contributions we guarantee that more than 1,000 children between the ages of 5 and 12, who live in these communities, have the necessary materials to study and can attend since the beginning of the school year," said Julio Fernández, Communications Superintendent of the CAC.  Likewise, he urged that parents send their children to schools because only education makes people develop and move towards a better future.

The school supplies donated to the children consist of backpacks, notebooks, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, colored pencils, among other materials.  This will help hundreds of parents manage their children’s school expenses and encourages them to attend school from the beginning of the new school year.  Also, as in every year, the CAC delivered more than 10,000 notebooks to the children of its employees.

This work carried out by the CAC has been developed under its corporate social responsibility policy, which considers education as one of its most important priority areas.  With this donation, the sugar company again highlights its commitment to its employees and the broader community.
