New medical diagnostics center built on land donated by Central Romana

A new medical diagnostics center was inaugurated by Dominican President Luis Abinader in the province of El Seibo, built on land donated by Central Romana Corporation.  President Abinader was accompanied by Dr. Leo Matos, Vice President of Administration of the company.

Various medical services will be offered in the new Centro Diagnostico y de Atención Primaria, such as x-rays, sonography, physiatry therapy, clinical laboratory, vaccines, pharmacy, gynecology, internal medicine, pediatrics and dentistry, among others.

President Abinader also carried out the official ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of 50 homes for low-income families that will be built on a plot of more than 27,000 square meters donated by Central Romana, as part of its commitment to social responsibility.  These “Eco-Homes” will be delivered next year, as announced by the authorities.

The houses, which will be built by the Ministry of Strategic and Special Projects of the Presidency (PROPEEP) led by Minister Neney Cabrera, will be called Praderas del Central (as an homage to Central Romana) and will include a wooded area that the sugar mill company will develop jointly with the Regional Environmental Office of El Seibo.  In this way, a forest will be formed that will serve as a natural lung and will allow the regeneration of the vegetation layer in the neighborhood.

The donation of the land was recently carried out by senior Central Romana officials, Ing. Eduardo Martínez-Lima Gonzalvo and Dr. Leo Matos, in a ceremony held in the same place where the plots for the houses were subdivided.  The same day, the company also announced the donation of more than 45,000 square meters of land for the construction of a new municipal cemetery for El Seibo and the donation of another 3,000 square meters of land to install the regional office of the General Directorate of Security and Traffic Terrestrial (DIGESETT).
